Lately, I’ve found myself waking up quite early, starting a morning coffee in the middle of the day, and going to bed late at night. This happens on a fairly regular basis in the US, but it’s not the usual pattern. I’ve even started to believe it’s a choice. Because if they do, it’s usually because they’re in a hurry and a couple of hours later they’re in another place, wearing another outfit, and wondering how they spent their last two days.

Thats why I say all this is about “getting things done.” In the US, I believe we all wake up at the crack of dawn to get things done by all the various systems in our life. But in Europe we wake up at the crack of dawn and stay up late, which is where we come in. In the UK, everyone is up before 7:30 and then at the crack of dawn. That is also why we get to bed by 3:00.
